Telecommunications and Enterprise Networks

The Telecommunications and Enterprise Networks initiative is working to improve access to government services and information by supporting statewide efforts to expand broadband access and usage in California. It is also working to lower costs and improve the security, reliability and performance of the State's IT infrastructure. The initiative supports the IT Strategic Plan Goal 1, Objective 5 and Goal 4, Objective 2.

• 12/01/07: The Statewide Telecommunications Strategic Plan Subcommittee published the California Statewide Telecommunications Strategic Plan (PDF, 806 KB) - Pathway To A Connected California
• 11/30/07: The Statewide Telecommunications Strategic Plan Subcommittee facilitated a Presentation for representatives from various organizations regarding telecommunications Billing Management services. Evaluating the benefits of and facilitating access to this type of service is called for under Action Item 1.2.3 of the Telecommunications Strategic Plan (PDF, 411 KB).
• 11/16/07: DPA staff and the Statewide Telecommunications Strategic Plan Subcommittee developed a draft survey to identify the organizational structures and position classifications used by State agencies to deliver telecommunications services. The information gathered by the survey will be used by DPA and others to support the IT HR Project and Action Item 6.1.1 of the Telecommunications Strategic Plan (PDF, 411 KB).
• 11/09/07: Communications have been sent by the State CIO to the directors of agencies referenced in the California Telecommunications Strategic Plan (PDF, 411 KB) requesting responses if the proposed Plan Action Items would introduce an undue burden. If significant changes are requested by those directors before Plan publication, the IT Council will take under consideration whether the impacted Plan Action Items should be deferred.
• 10/19/07: At the IT Council meeting today, the Council adopted the California Telecommunications Strategic Plan (PDF, 411 KB) with the provision that the State CIO will consult with directors of agencies impacted by the Action Items identified in the Plan to verify they are reasonably accomplishable based on estimated scope and schedule.
• 06/12/07: Telecommunications and Network Planning Update (PDF, 25 KB)
• 04/02/07: The ITC Telecommunications Subcommittee will review the Draft Goals and Objectives they are developing for the California Telecommunications Plan at the ITC meeting on April 19.
